On the Alert
B1110

Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Picture

While browsing for grubs and roots in the lush spring foliage, the sow grizzly bear is suddenly vigilant, alert to a sound or smell that might represent a threat to her two nearby cubs.  A famous bear in Grand Teton National Park, this is Grizzly 610. A month after this picture was made, this female made news when she adopted one of the cubs of her own mother, Grizzly 399, an unusual development.
